4. REPORTS BY THE OFFICERS AND COMMITTEE
4.1 Report by the Treasurer
Ian Hardy YTAA Hon. Treasurer described the association's financial position explaining that the reduced membership in 2012 had accounted for a slight shortfall in funds for the Stearsby improvement plan. Despite the above Ian informed the meeting that successful discussions and agreements with the riparian owner and the contractor had determined that the work would go ahead in 2013 and that enabling works for the excavation had already begun. Detailed plans for the work had been prepared by Ian, debated and agreed in committee and subsequently accepted by the riparian owner. An outline of the work plan, key objectives and timescale was presented to the meeting;.
Ian reminded the membership present that the 2013 season subscription was to be reduced from £100.00 to £80.00; however following the shortfall described above Ian had recommended to committee that the 2013 subscription be £90.00 with the reduction to £80.00 in 2014.
4.2 Report by the Secretary
The Secretary gave a summary report of the association’s business throughout the 2012 season most of which had been communicated in the newsletter. The key points being:-
• The Stearsby bottom pond leak and temporary repair
• New footbridge at Stearsby
• River Dove clearance work
• Reported manure problem at Arden Bridge Isle Beck
• Increased grayling population in Isle Beck
• Good mayfly hatches despite high water levels in June
4.3 Catch Returns
Peter Conde gave a summary of 2012 season's catch returns;
Becks 60 visits produced 222 trout, 18 Grayling and 22 chub.
Stearsby 47 Members Fished on 306 visits - with an average of 2.55 fish per visit.
Peter's presentation was informative and the data had been analysed very well. A key point to note is that although Stearsby is a very well stocked and a very productive small still water fishery it suffers a major drop-off in the Dog Days. This prompted the Secretary to suggest that the time for the Stearsby improvement work should July/August 2013; there was general agreement with this. David Hope requested that the catch return presentation be put on the website. ( Actioned: Click here.)
